"Klang Gates" @ 9:36 PM
Also known as Bukit Tabur.
I've heard about it for more than an entire frickin year.
So finally, there was a chance to climb it today morning when Mr. Tan invited, and I grabbed it. The plan was to meet up with Mr. Tan and Nee On at Mr. Tan's place wee early then pick up Candice in Damansara. As usual, something does not go according to plan.
This time, Mr. Tan was a no-show because we couldn't get him to wake up! And we were right outside his house! We wanted to go rapping at his door, but were concerned that his daughters would be stirred from their slumber if we did. Hence we continued to call, and call and call... his handphone oughta have exploded by the amount of miss calls and text messages we left him. :D
I didn't drive all the way from Cheras to allow a letdown to happen, instead finally we gave in, and I followed Nee On and Candice in continuing our journey without him.
Trek was awesome, so totally worth it!
From where we stood at one of the high vantage points, it was obvious that the mountain was aptly named Klang Gates. On one side, the view was rather breathtaking, a perfect lake with mist dancing just above the water, the sun rising behind the mountains. On the other side stood ugly buildings, housing areas and roads that lead up to a view of the entire Klang valley. This mountain range was like the gateway into a secluded sanctuary. =) So awesome.
Too bad I forgot to bring along my camera, such a waste of a beautiful view.
Yea but other than that, the remaining of the trek was one hellish vertical climb. It was literally a rock climbing expedition, and I spent most of my energy just freaking out at the sheer insanity of having to climb such precarious places. Nobody mentioned that it was this rocky! I have a major problem with vertical heights, I do. But oh whatever, it was so fun! I'm glad my two other companions are old pros at rock climbing =), and I trust Nee On's guiding.
To a certain degree. haha.
It took a little adjusting and getting used to, but once the confidence built there was no looking back :D Seriously, because I sure did not want to return back the saw way I came. I'd probably just slip and die a mangled death.
Running down the mountain through the fruit orchard would have been more enjoyable had I brought along the right pair of shoes. D: The trail was slippery and my casual running shoes just don't cut it compared to the all-terrain one. I slipped fell a total of 3 times everytime I tried to pick up speed. Shucks, what a kill joy.
Arrived at the foothill safe and sound, nasib.... :D
It was a good experience, and probably a good place for me to train my fear of heights, fear of falling and fear of getting injured. Maybe I'm glad Mr. Tan didn't make it this time (Whoops!), cause I know his patience. And its so not like Nee On's! So he doesn't have to deal with someone as timid as me.
Then we drove to SS2 to have delicious ban mien brunch with Amos & Co. before fetching him to the Subang airport. Too bad he decided against joining us for the trek due to his worries about missing his flight, since we came down the mountain a hour plus earlier than expected, there more than enough time to have brunch with him even!
Ah wells.
Thanks Nee On for fetching me back to my car even though its so frickin far and so frickin out of the way T.T ... that is, if you ever read my blog. heh.
(this post is 3 days late, btw)
