"Gavin Yap" @ 7:47 AM
Gavin Yap who acted as Mickey in Sumo-Lah.
HE'S BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~~~

Ok. So he wasn't exactly the normally expected sumo type of character in the movie, also he played nothing but a minor role, but it was great. I extremely liked how his character was played out, the cuteness of it all. (Shant, who went out with me to watch the movie today, thinks I'm crazy. Ah hell =D)
Personally having Mickey in the show made a plus point, cause I have lots of minus points for the horrible done Japanese conversations (there were LOADS of that crap) and also cultural facts that were shamelessly screwed up.
I mean come on now, this is a show about Japanese Sumo Wrestling. They made the initial training sceens look so modern with high class gyms and fantastic muscle making equipments. Hell you don't built muscles in Sumo! Then, there's the rituals of the Sumo where they changed to suit "Malaysian Culture" like wearing the tights under the Mawashi. That is still tolerable, I suppose. It was weird, however, watching all sorts of drummers from various cultural background drumming while the competition was on. That shouldn't be happening in a Sumo match?! And what's with the slashing thing the winners do after each match? A winner, in a Sumo match is supposed to use his hand to carve out the kanji 'kokoro' in the air before recieving his prize money. Obviously the producers of Sumo-Lah was oblivious to this small fact =/
I could go on and on about this movie, especially the part where no where in Malaysia do you have local girls in the city (or the park by the tasik) do you have girls dressed in full yukata as if it were casual wear. But I am going to do myself a favour to stop right now. There isn't much of a point bitching about it. I might as well criticize something much horribly done i.e Spiderman3. =D Also its because I just realized what was meant to be a minor fangurling post turned out in to be a *very expected* critic post.
But Sumo-Lah had Gavin Yap in it. I am well pleased. Nothing beats a chibi Mohawk headed character who is slightly insane that bites

I'd probably post my next blogpost related to Gavin and his local productions.
Thanks to Shant for the movie treat. =D It's great seeing you again. I hope your mum freaks out nicely when you show her your Steve Vai tattoo hehehe.
